Transforming into a Cozy Mountain Retreat
The homeowner envisioned transforming their Whistler property into a serene, Scandinavian-inspired refuge—an inviting getaway from city life.
The goal was to create a bright, minimalist space filled with natural textures that exuded warmth and modernity. A crucial aspect of this transformation involved refreshing the interior by removing the dated orange-toned wood that had made the space feel dark and traditional.
We replaced the old wood with lighter, natural finishes, resulting in a cleaner, more welcoming atmosphere. This update revitalized the home, aligning it with the homeowner’s vision of a Scandinavian retreat.
To ensure a seamless transition, we carefully stripped and refinished existing surfaces where possible, creating a harmonious flow throughout the interior.
Innovative Design Meets Practical Construction
To achieve a cozy vibe, we incorporated natural materials like soft wood flooring and locally sourced stone for the fireplace. Skilled masonry was essential in constructing a stunning and functional centerpiece that maximizes heat retention during colder months. Each stone was hand-selected and arranged to create a cohesive look that complements the modern design while adding warmth to the living area.
Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Living
In the kitchen, we focused on creating a functional space with custom cabinetry designed for maximum storage while maintaining a clean, minimalist look.
Durable materials were chosen to ensure longevity and practicality. Throughout the renovation, we prioritized modern comforts, including efficient heating systems and proper insulation, making the Alpine Retreat a cozy, year-round escape that beautifully blends style and function.
